Hey all
So the NCAA wrestling tournament is going on now and NU is currently in 2nd place. I’m not certain we can maintain that spot but we should really be a lock for the top 4 and a team trophy
We have 5 in the semis (of 10 total) two have been eliminated and three more are still in consultations. 5 have earned all American status, top 6 and the other 3 need to win tonight to get on the podium.
That being said I see 3 of our 5 in the semis that should make the finals and possibly 4. That would be incredible.
The meet ends Saturday night and I’ll bore you with more details as they happen

Wow, a #2 finish would be amazing. A top 4 is certainly notable.
After day 2, we sit in 3rd place with 90.5 points. Behind us are Iowa at 81 and OSU at 77.5. Oklahoma State is a solid 2nd now. Iowa could pass us but that’s unlikely, I don’t see us falling to 5th. A second team trophy will be big, not quite the 2nd place we took last year but recruits notice.
We qualified all 10 starters and 7 have earned All American status. We are wrestling for 7th at 133, between 3rd and 6th at 141, 149, 197 and 285. Two wrestlers have a shot in the finals to win it all, 157 and 174.
Notables:
149 Chance Lamer placed 10th at the B1G tournament, was awarded an at large bid and now is guaranteed top 6.
184 Sr Silas Allred suffered a serious knee injury in the quarterfinals and had to default out. His next opponent was someone he’d beaten twice and would have likely place top 6. Fortunately he did AA last year.
Antrel Taylor is in the finals again and we could have only our second 2 time nation champion. We’ve also hade AA at 157 5 consecutive years and should make it 6 next year.
In 2 years we’ve had 2 team trophies (assuming) and AA at all 10 weights. That should help in NIL money and recruiting.
The AA are, in class, 2 SO, 2 JR and 3 SR. The finalists are SO and JR. So we return talent next year. 2 FR and a SR (Allred) did not place.
