Looks like the discussions on how to restructure the college football playoffs have moved over to the ‘public sentiment’ phase, with SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey giving an extended discourse on the issue at SEC’s media days.
The B1G and SEC’s position is so obviously self-serving and without any kind of justification other than “we’re rich AF and powerful” that I can’t see anything happening with the playoff format. I worry that this could lead to the final schism with the B1G and SEC forming it’s own ‘league’. If they wanted to make it mathematically easy they could fill out the roster with 30 invites. I suppose ND, FSU, Clemson, Miami, etc would all join them. Or they could model it on the NFL and make half the league make the playoffs.
