Rhule takes responsibility - so what?

Coach Rhule takes the responsibility for not calling a time out when Nebraska had the wrong defensive package in ahead of Indiana’s winning touchdown.

So, what does that mean? Is he going to fine himself?

What’s the point of ‘taking responsibility’ when it doesn’t result in ANYTHING happening??

I don’t think it does mean much to the fans and the public. But, I don’t think it was intended for the fans either. Most of the time it is the coach saying that for the team’s, players and assistants, benefit. It is basically letting the team know it was his fault and he is taking the blame. The team may already know it but in the players position it is nice to hear. I have heard coaches on several levels do that on occasion.

I have seen instances where it isn’t the HC’s fault at all but he says that anyway. He is trying to deflect the blame off his team.

I don’t recall Brian Kelly ever taking responsibility when things went south.

What do you want him to so? Pretend it didn’t happen? Blame Aurich? Blame Andrew Marshall? Commit seppuku?

Here’s a guy getting paid $8.5 million NOT to make stupid mistakes that lose games. Make him do SOMETHING, maybe donate $100k to UNL scholarship programs.

Should he take ultimate responsibility and get fired, he’d continue to get paid $8.5 million a year for several years.

Rhule is a good coach but it’s a GREAT talker. I’m praying the coaching acumen catches up to his mouth at some point.

I was pleased to see the Huskers’ toughness against Indiana last Saturday. We played “meaner” than they did and it showed. It’s been a while since we’ve hit people like we mean it.

That is a hallmark of great teams and inspires confidence eventually. When the boys can go into any game KNOWING they are the bigger bear and fully believing they will win, no matter the circumstances, we’ll get back to relevance.

Oregon will be a good test of our real confidence. Both are coming off heartbreaking losses. Who gets up of the mat angrier and hungrier?

Huskers are 7.5 point underdogs as of today.

Hopefully they’ll feel that’s insulting.
