Missouri and Nebraska both have full schedules and finding a neutral site for the resumption of the game may be difficult on short notice. Missouri may not be excited about UNL hosting it, and Nebraska fans probably wouldn’t want it played at Missouri.
There is zero reason for Mizzou to play this game anywhere. It’s a guaranteed loss, and they are probably a bubble NCAA tournament team so an extra loss, even to NU, won’t help them. The Conf vs conf challenge and playing at Wrigley Field was kinda cool, but now that it’s just another VB match…there’s no way Mizzou agrees to play.
I think the gimmick of outdoor volleyball games needs to go away. Do it every 4-5 years if you must, or make it a novelty exhibition match. The only “arena” sport that really works well outside is hockey (and even that can have problems….UNO tried it at Schwab about 10 years ago and unseasonably warm weather lead to poor surface conditions…although they did finish the games). I feel like it makes for a cool atmosphere, but the experience of watching a game from the nosebleeds wears thin real quick.
