Rutgers joining the big ten never seemed like a good idea to me. I understand they were trying to expand their footprint into the northeast (along with Maryland), but I am skeptical whether Rutgers moved the needle at all, especially now that literally every game is televised/streamable.

It sounds like they have buried themselves in debt trying to make this work. Kicking them out for Notre Dame would make a lot more sense, but the Domers aren’t gonna join a conference until they’re forced to.
