Huskers ranked in AP poll

The CU victory was good enough to get Nebraska to #24 in the latest AP poll.

Correction, they’re #23 in AP, #24 in the AFCA Coaches poll.

That Flavor Aid is tasting better and better. I’m taking an extra sip after last night’s win.

How long has it been since we were anywhere in the Top 25?
Seems like forever.

2019 was the last time they were ranked, 24 in the preseason poll, 25 after their first game. But then they lost in OT at CU and that was it until today.

Only the Ohio State and USC games are currently against ranked opponents.

And both of those games are away.

We will see what happens.
The Blackshirts will be able to keep us in most games. The O is capable of putting enough points on the board. We need to clean us the problems the team had in the 2nd half last night!

Possibly the best thing about being ranked at this point is that ESPN writes several stories every week about the top 25. Today they have their power poll, and the Huskers rate a paragraph plus they’re mentioned as a ‘tough road game’ for #25 Illinois. When was the last time anyone considered Nebraska a ‘tough road game’?

They also get a mention as a team having one of the longest streaks of not shutting out an opponent, though.

Good national press matters. Mainstream press has been dented by TikTok and other mediums but is still a core element.

Now to keep up progress by coming out hot to generate more buzz about the transformation.

I watched the first half again to see what I would see without any beer or emotion involved. It looked like CU play calling was nerfed and they didn’t play to their strengths. Nebraska had a plan and executed well. CU didn’t have an answer to a strong defensive front, or perhaps that’s why their play calling was conservative in the first half. I think nebraska has a better roster, though not with the accolades CU has gotten.

Now I hope CU runs the table and Nebraska keeps their momentum.
