Frost Remarks about NU and UCF

Much ado about Frost’s comments. I took it a little different than did a lot of fans. I would guess that a lot of people make decisions in life that looked so right at the time yet when looking at it some time later felt they shouldn’t have made that decision. I took the comments more on this line than Frost was taking a shot at Nebraska.

I will have to admit when Frost was hired at UNL amid all the rejoicing and hoopla I did wonder if it would work out. But, as we all have heard many times, hindsight is always 20/20. I am sure the way things turned out Frost would be more comfortable at UCF than at UNL.

I had my doubts right from the start about Frost’s lack of Power 5 head coaching experience and even more doubts about the coaches he brought with him.

It appears I was right, although I would rather have been wrong.

Time will tell whether Frost can demonstrate that he can coach at the level needed at a Power 4/5 school. I still have my doubts about that. His ‘national championship’ at UCF deserved a basketload of Bowie Kuhn’s asterisks.

BTW, Frost is not the only recent Nebraska head coach who has failed to acknowledge his part in too many losses and other poor decisions. I was hoping he’s matured since then, but it doesn’t seem like that’s the case yet.

An unanswered question is if Nebraska or UCF tries to schedule a non-conference game or series of games, would the other school/coach agree to it? I suspect neither school would see much upside to such a game, but the folks with the broadcast rights might love it.

Well Mike Riley was a power 5 HC and we know how that turned out. Pelini had no HC experience at all but he was still the most successful coach thus century.

But was he a SUCCESSFUL Power 5 head coach? In half of his seasons at Oregon State before taking the Nebraska job, he was under .500. People I know in Oregon were relieved he left, it saved their AD from having to fire him and pay the buyout.
