Rest in peace, sir. Would have loved to see what he could have done if he’d been hired to succeed Solich in 2003.
I am with George Rapp. Kiffin is the coach that “shoulda been”, but we will never know. By all accounts his influence and impact transcended title and time. What more can you ask for in terms of legacy?
Monte was pretty much a career Defensive Coordinator both in college and most the NFL. Monte was a home grown Husker meaning he grew up in Lexington, NE where he played High School ball. He also played for the Huskers. He was the Head Coach at North Carolina State for three years. The rest of his career he was a defensive coach in one way or another.
I guess I show my age but it doesn’t seem it was all that long ago when he played at UNL. It was 1959-1963.

It’s been > 20 years, but FADSP seemed driven by the need to distance NU from its past and position it as the team of the future. What he failed to understand is that the future of Nebraska IS the connection to the past.
I don’t recognize FADSP, what does that stand for?
Took me a while to make sense of it, but I think it’s former AD Peterson. Aka he who shall not be named.
