Indiana beat Ohio State in a great game, and Duke pulls off the unbelievable upset of Virginia to win the ACC and probably freeze the ACC out of the playoffs.
Both wins suit me. Not a fan of Cignetti but less a fan of the Buckeyes. Hate to see the Hurricanes make the playoffs but they may deserve it - we’ll see. Will be pulling for Georgia since Huskers are not a factor.
The more FBS changes, the bigger FCS fan I’ve become. Go Grizz!

Any day that Ohio State loses is a good day.
The result does make you wonder how Indiana can do it but Nebraska can’t.
Not that hard to figure out, most of the players on the roster probably couldn’t have placed Bloomington Indiana on a map 2 1/2 years ago.
How long Indiana can keep it up remains to be seen, and I don’t know how long they’ll keep Cignetti, either. I would expect Penn State to be a bigger factor in the Big Ten under Matt Campbell than they ever were under Franklin. And he’ll have a $30 million NIL war chest to beef up the roster for 2026.

I remember a guy named Tom Osborne that said more than once, “coaches don’t beat coaches, players beat players”. I think, this year at least, Indiana simply has better players.

Notre Dame told the bowls ‘no thanks’ after they got left out of the playoffs.
On one hand I can’t say I blame them. There has to be some anger and disappointment. It just seems like it is the same thing as the little boy getting mad and taking his ball and going home.
On the other hand I would say that is what they get for not being in a conference. It just doesn’t seem right that Notre Dame gets judged good or bad by not playing in a conference championship game. Every other team, except Notre Dame and UConn, is in a conference that has a championship game
The NCAA, or whoever is in charge of this, needs to make sure every one is in a conference or have it so the conference championship games don’t count, pro or con, toward the playoffs.

You think someone’s actually in charge of that? LOL!
Iowa State and Kansas State have also opted out (but for different reason - coaching changes).
Honestly, this might be the beginning of the end for traditional (non-CFP) bowl games. They are glorified exhibition games at this point (ironically - that’s exactly how they originated).
The extra month of practice is helpful, but the results don’t mean much. I predict the playoffs will continue to expand and bowl games will decline. FCS currently has a 24-team playoff, D2 has 32 teams and D3 has 40 (of course they are actually ran by the NCAA at the lower levels).
I don’t think bowl games will completely go away, but their relevance will continue to decline.
I wonder how close they’re coming to running out of 6-win teams to play in bowls, with 3 teams (so far) opting out?
Are all the bowl slots filled up yet?
The Big Twelve announced that they would fine Iowa State and Kansas State $500K for opting out of their bowl games.
