Chip Kelley stepping down at UCLA to become Ohio State's new OC

I wonder if maybe he had been advised that his contract wouldn’t be extended, it’s gotta be a big drop in salary from head coach at a power-5 school to OC at one.

That could be but if that is the case wouldn’t it have been announced by now for recruiting purposes if nothing else. Of course with the transfer portal in place recruiting isn’t as vital as it once was.

I was really surprised at the news on both ends. That being leaving UCLA and going to Ohio State.

One thing that might be in the works is the future of Ryan Day as Head Coach there. If that happens Ohio State wouldn’t have to do an in depth coaching search. Kelly could just be moved up to Head Coach.
