Afterthoughts UNL vs Cincinnati

There needs to be a lot of improvement before the Michigan game or that’s gonna get ugly.

It also seems clear that the offense has a lot of room for improvement. The passing defense was good, but I don’t think Cincy was a major threat in the air, and they gashed us for way too much yardage on the ground. Special teams may have been the best unit of the night. (Did I really say that!)

Seems likely that the poll voters will leave Nebraska off their ballots until they’ve proven they belong–again.

With Kansas State, Boise State, Texas, LSU, Alabama and Notre Dame all losing to lower-ranked or unranked teams (KSU needed a late drive to avoid doing it twice), the Top 25 polls are gonna look a bit different tomorrow. I don’t expect Nebraska to get much, if any, attention in the polls yet, nor have they really demonstrated they’re that good yet. They’ve got a lot of potential upside, but we’ve heard that song before.

Yes, lots to work on but I take some comfort in being able to pull out a close win (for the 2nd game in a row). Hoping it will give the team a confidence boost. They’ll need that, and lots more, to compete with the better teams on our schedule down the road.
